Katja Herbers is the daughter of violinist Vera Beths and oboist Werner Herbers. She spent much of her moments with her mom in America as an infant, while they traveled the world with each other. She met the theatre as her father Leonie Poliak and cellist Annerbylsma were married. The au pair she was with was Canadian and she was able to learn Dutch German, English and German when she was a young. Herbers attended the Ignatius Gymnasium located in Amsterdam.
